Betsy and Jaime | Fort Adams Engagement Session

There’s no way to better start your week off than with the celebration of love! That’s exactly what the Blueflash team is doing as we glance back to Betsy and Jamie’s Fort Adams engagement session with Emily!

We were blessed with the best weather for this engagement session. Although it was a little windy, that’s to be expected when you’re by the ocean. Emily, Betsy and Jamie roamed the historic ground of Fort Adams taking every bit of scenery. We might have missed the war reenactments that often take place there, but we still enjoyed all the sights that this classic Newport location offers! Nothing beats spending a wonderful day in the great outdoors with incredible people! Thanks for hanging out with us for the day, Betsy and Jamie! Best of luck to the both of you! Make sure to scroll down to take a glimpse at their fun engagement shoot!

Dania and Chris | Oceancliff Wedding

Happy Friday, everyone! Before you get your jump start on your weekend, take a look back with us to Dania and Chris’s wedding at OceanCliff! Matt and Emily photographed the happy couple on their big day.

Ali Lomazzo Beauty spent the morning with the bridal squad helping them with their hair and makeup needs! After the last bobby pin was placed and the final stroke of mascara was applied, the girls helped Dania step into her wedding gown! Dania wore a dress from Alexandra’s Bridal Boutique and she looked absolutely radiant! Now that our ladies all looked ravishing, Dania set off to OceanCliff to surprise her man with a first look. When Chris turned around and saw his glowing bride, he was utterly speechless! We strolled the grounds for a bit to take a few pictures with the beautiful landscape that the venue offers, but time was ticking away and it was almost time for the ceremony…

With family and friends finding their seats, the bridal party took their places for the wedding to begin! Alan Chianese officiated the ceremony as Dania and Chris became man and wife in front of all of their loved ones. After sealing their intimate vows with a kiss, the newly weds led their guests over to the cocktail hour before a lovely reception. With the incredible floral arrangements spread throughout the room, Christine Kuzman Floral Designs transformed the venue into a wonderland! After the new Mr. and Mrs. made their grand entrance, everyone was ready to dive into the feast that OceanCliff provided. With just enough room for some tasty sweets, we all indulged in the delectable desserts that Queen B’s Cakery made! With not a crumb left, everyone set off for the dance floor where Those Guys Newport played the perfect music for everyone to dance the night away!

Thanks so much for having us along for the ride, Dania and Chris! Scroll down and check out the highlights from their wedding day below!

Nikki and David | Providence Biltmore Wedding

We all dream of our fairytale weddings and pour ourselves into every detail once it is time to start planning. Today, we’re going to look back to Nikki and David’s fairytale wedding at the Providence Biltmore! Matt and Emily joined them for photography and Dan took care of cinematography!

With anticipation coursing through the room, Nikki and her favorite ladies spent the morning in pampering bliss! With the perfect amount of blush applied, and the last curl of the curling wand, it was time to get dressed! The glowing bridesmaids stood by Nikki’s side as she stepped into her beautiful wedding gown from Chantilly Place. Nikki looked absolutely incredible! Our bridal squad had now completed every step of bridal preparation and was ready to set off to the ceremony!

Nikki and David’s loved ones settled into the pews at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul while the bridal party took there places. Nikki walked down the aisle with utter joy to David who looked absolutely elated! In front of their closest family and friends, Father Walter Riley officiated the vows. Now that our bride and groom were officially hitched, it was time to celebrate! After taking a few pictures all around our states capital, we all headed to the Providence Biltmore for the reception!

Golden Gate Studio transformed the venue into a beautiful dreamscape with the most beautiful floral arrangements! The Biltmore provided a delicious meal for the newly weds and their guests.  Wrights Dairy Farm made the most delicious desserts for us to feast on afterwards! After a perfect meal and dessert, everyone made their way over to the dance floor with the sounds of DJ Corey Young to help finish the night off with even more celebration!

We had a blast celebrating with Nikki and David! Be sure to check out the highlights from their special day below!

Andrea and Roland | Saphire Estates Wedding

Today, we’re going to look back at Andrea and Roland’s Saphire Estates wedding! Dan and Cal joined them for cinematography, and the Bluecube was in tow for some fun at the reception!

Andrea started this very special day surrounded by her closest girlfriends! All of the ladies had their hair curled and pinned into perfection and applied just the right amount of makeup to leave them all glowing. Now that they all looked perfect, it was time for the girls to help Andrea step into her stunning wedding gown. The bridesmaids looked gorgeous and our blushing bride was absolutely radiant! With everyone dressed and ready to go, we set off to Saphire Estates to get these two love birds hitched!

With the last of the guest finding their seats, the bridal party took their places with an ecstatic Roland waiting at the alter! Andrea and Roland exchanged precious vows in front of their closest friends and family and officially became man and wife. Now that our bride and groom were wed, it was time to celebrate! Everyone enjoyed a delectable feast followed by the most scrumptious desserts! The last thing to do was to hit the dance floor to dance the night away in celebration of the newly weds!

Thanks so much Andrea and Roland for inviting us along for the day to celebrate with you! Make sure to check out their wedding video highlight below!

Gabriella and Patrick | Downtown Providence Engagement

Nothings better than celebrating new beginnings, and thats exactly what we did with Gabriella and Patrick for their downtown Providence engagement shoot with Matt!

Cloudy skies didn’t stop us from scouting all around our states capitol, luckily the rain stayed away for us to get some awesome shots in before calling it a day! We strolled by the prestigious state house and wandered along the the marble steps. After posing in some archways of the the state house, we traveled deeper into the heart of Providence. Stopping by some ivy laced walls, we naturally drifted to the closest body of water. The home of WaterFire was a great stop for us to end the day!

We’re so happy to have spent the day with this awesome couple! Be sure to check out Gabriella and Patricks engagement shoot below!

Teresa and Mark | Providence Art Club Wedding

Heres a celebration with a little bit of worldly and artistic culture! Emily was able to spend the evening with Teresa and Mark at their Providence Art Club wedding!

Ok, confession time. We didn’t actually photograph their wedding, Teresa and Mark had previously gotten married in China! How cool is that? Now that they were back in the states with their beautiful baby boy, it was time to celebrate with their closest friends and family members! We also had the privilege of photographing those family members for a few important moments of their lives, too. You can check out those posts: here, here, and here.

The Location: Providence Art Club

What better place for this charming couple to celebrate their love than at the Providence Art Club! With artistic vision expressed throughout the venue that mirrors cultures around the world, it was only fitting that the happy couple had a map with all the places they’ve been shaded out on it. This was such a lovely idea! This was the perfect intimate gathering for Teresa and Mark to celebrate their love as well as their guest expressing their congratulations and well wishes for the newly weds.

With an abundance of food and great company, we loved being apart of this celebration! Big congrats to these two lovebirds, we hope you’re closer to shading of more spots on that map! Check out the highlights of their special night below!

Melissa and David | Eolia Mansion Wedding

We hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! Let’s start this week off with a look back to Melissa and David’s Eolia Mansion wedding! Matt and Emily took care of photography, Caleb brought the Bluecube, and Britt was the wedding coordinator!

Melissa spent the morning getting pampered at the Hyatt Place Mystic with all her favorite ladies! With just the right amount of eyeshadow, and the perfect placement of the last bobby pin, it was time to put on the dress! All of the bridesmaids helped the bride step into her stunning gown. It was the perfect finishing touch to her bridal glow! Now that everyone looked picture-perfect, Melissa was on her way to surprise David with a first look! David saw his beautiful bride at Eolia Mansion at Harness State Park. These two gushed over each other for a few minutes while we took a few pictures, but after that, our next stop was the wedding ceremony!

Melissa and David got married at St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church with all of their loved ones in attendance. With the change of precious vows and a kiss to make it official, the two became man and wife! The love birds lead their guests over to Eolia Mansion for the celebration! (Eolia Mansion at Harkness State Park in Waterford, CT is one of the most beautiful spots we can imagine. You should visit.) After a delicious feast, everyone stopped by the Bluecube for a little bit of silliness and then it was time to hit the dance floor! The newly weds and their guests were all out of their chairs and on their feet to dance to the traditional greek dances with everyone in high spirits!

This was such a fun wedding to be apart of, thanks for inviting the Blueflash team along for your very special day! Best of luck to the happy couple! Be sure to check out the highlights from their wedding day below!

Bobotas Family | RI Family Photography

Once in awhile we come across a Blueflash Dynasty Family. I made that term up, but the Bobotas clan definitely falls into that category. We were a part of three Bobotas weddings. This family is great – they are genuine, loving, and just plain nice people. It’s been such an honor and a pleasure to be involved in some of their most important days. Getting to have another to do some family photography for them was a total bonus.

A Great Family Makes Great Family Photography

One of the couples lives in Japan, another in Alaska, so it’s not all too common when they get to be together. I arrived at the Cranston household and we began with traditional photos out front of everyone together and all the various sub combinations. Once we got that taken care of everyone headed into the backyard.

Coffee was brewed and they set up a game (the name of it totally escapes me) to play. I grabbed candid photos of everyone interacting and having a good time playing this game that they were so, errr, passionate about. Let’s just say it got competitive.

I think the photos of that part of the day really reflect who this family is, how much they love each other, and their love of having a good time with one another. This is family photography at its best; not because of what we did behind the camera, but because of who they are. A strong and loving family is one of the best things in life and they are lucky enough to have it.

Thank you once again, Bobotas family, for letting us in on a day in the life. Wishing you all the very best in everything you do! A lot of love from the Blueflash team.

Rachel | Conceptual Shoot

Every once in a (great) while we get to take some time to do a conceptual shoot just for the heck of it. This one is from a little while back but hasn’t made it on the blog yet. Rachel was kind enough to hang out with me one cold night in a big empty field. I brought a bag of smoke bombs, five speedlights, my camera, and a lighter. My vision for the shoot was to have everything dark except the lights, smoke, and Rachel.

After setting everything up we decided to do some photos sans smoke bombs. I figured we might as well, plus it let me get calibrated with settings and framing. I had to shine a flash light on Rachel while I locked in focus, then turn the flash light off (at which point it became pitch black and I couldn’t even see her) and then shoot the photo. The strobes were blinding when contrasted against the inky dark surround. They were, after all, pointing directly back at me.

Bring On the Smoke bombs

I was liking the look of the photos. It was time to add in the smoke bombs. I think everything gets better with smoke bombs so I figured this was a slam dunk. What I hadn’t anticipated was how difficult it would be for me to light all of them, run back to where I needed to stand for the shot, shine the flash light on Rachel, lock focus, and actually shoot the photo before the smoke was done billowing out.

You only get about 10 seconds of smoke from your typical smoke bomb. That didn’t leave a lot of time for me. I sprinted back (way back when you’re shooting at 200mm) to grab the camera and make it happen. After burning my fingers while rushing to light all the smoke bombs I started seeing some things I liked on the back of the camera.

Check out some photos from our conceptual shoot and see what you think. I’d love to get out there and do some more stuff along these lines. It’s always a matter of finding the time, right? Do you have any cool ideas you’d like to see in a photograph? Shoot us a message @blueflashphoto on Instagram or leave one on our Facebook page.

Julie and Taylor | Glen Manor House Wedding

Hello, everyone! Let’s take a look back to Julie and Taylor’s Glen Manor House Wedding! Emily and Brian took care of all the happy couples photography needs. Caleb brought the party with uplighting.

Salon KG spent the morning with Julie and the bridesmaids making sure that their hair and makeup were absolutely perfect. Next, the ladies helped Julie step into her wedding gown! Julie wore a spectacular wedding gown from Alexanders Bridal Boutique. With one radiant bride and six beautiful bridesmaids in tow, we set off for Glen Manor House for a first look before the ceremony! Julie ascended the stairs as Taylor turned around and saw his glowing bride and was immediately filled with absolute joy! Now that the two love birds got a sneak peak of each other, it was time to ring the wedding bells!

Rustic Roots Design created incredible floral arrangements throughout the venue that made everything seem so charming! Julie and Taylor recited vows and said “I do” with all of their friends and family as witnesses. Now that our bride and groom were officially married, it was time to celebrate! Everyone followed the newly weds into the reception area for the ultimate feast provided by West Bay Gourmet! For those who saved room for desserts, they indulged in wedding cake by family friend Randi Arruda, cupcakes by A Spoonful of Sugar, and whoopie pies from Sweets by Sue. How fun is that? So many sweets, and every bit of it was delectable! After the food was completely devoured, it was time to hit the dance floor with GQ and The Lady!

Congrats to the happy couple, Julie and Taylor! Thanks for letting us tag along! Be sure to take a look at the highlights from their special day below!
