Songs of Love: Top 50 Ceremonial Processional Songs of 2016

You may have picked the dress. You may have booked the venue. You may even know what people will eat at the reception. However, when you walk down the aisle, do you know what music will be playing? If not, then you need to peruse our list of the top 50 ceremonial processional songs of 2016.

What Are Wedding Processional Songs?

The processional is the entrance of the bridal party during the wedding ceremony. The nature of the processional can vary substantially. In some cases, the processional is extended with family members, flower girls and groomsmen. Smaller weddings may simply feature the bridesmaids. The culmination of the processional, however, is always the same. It ends with the appearance of the bride. The music that plays during the processional adds interest to the ceremony, setting the tone for the wedding.

Choosing Processional Songs

Ceremonial processional songs are a reflection of the couple’s personal tastes and the overall theme of the wedding. When thinking about wedding processional songs, consider the musicality of each piece. Is it slow? Does it have a strong beat? Are there lyrics? You should pick a song that represents your personality as a couple.

Current Song Trends

Processional choices are as varied as couples themselves! There are newer pieces from artists like John Legend and Adele, but classic favorites from the Beatles and Elvis Presley are also on the list. Some choices are thematically on the nose like Train’s “Marry Me” or “Marry You” by Bruno Mars. Christina Perri’s ballad “A Thousand Years” earned the second spot this year thanks to its breathy style and lyrical content.

You can go country with Rascal Flatts, or you can infuse the ceremony with a bit of hip hop with “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. Even though the Beatles are oldies, their music still resonates. Three songs from the iconic group are on the list this year. John Legend, Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat also made out well with two songs in the top 50 a piece.

Venue Spotlight | Mount Hope Farm

The Venue Spotlight Series

Over the past few years we’ve photographed a lot of wedding venues. Like, a lot of venues. We thought that we’d bring something a little different to the blog to highlight some of these wonderful spaces. In the coming months, we’ll feature some helpful information and beautiful photos and videos of wedding venues around Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut that you are going to absolutely love. So, without further ado, here’s the next edition of our venue spotlight series: Mount Hope Farm!

Mount Hope Farm

Mount Hope Farm is truly a jewel of the East Bay. It’s a historic country estate set right on the Narragansett Bay with unbeatable views of the Mount Hope Bridge. There’s so much on this property to see – the working farm complete with goats and chickens, a stunning flower cutting garden, and miles of trails through the picturesque woods. On top of all of that, there’s not one, but two amazing location choices to hold your wedding or event. The first is the barn. It’s rustic and has an enormous working stone fireplace. Cozy and perfect. The second location is the Cove Cabin. The cabin is set deeper on the property and overlooks the lovely Mount Hope Bridge. If you’re looking for that New England seaside charm, with some rustic character, look no further.

Another unbeatable feature of this property is the accessibility. There’s a charming year round farmer’s market in the barn if you want to check it out with out committing to a full tour. The trails are also open to the public and are pet-friendly. It’s also an unbeatable spot if you’re just looking for an awesome engagement session location. Did we mention the location? It’s just minutes from the conveniences and charm of downtown Bristol. There’s a number of lovely churches to host a ceremony nearby. Bristol’s bustling small business scene also makes it a great spot for accommodations for your out-of-town guests or to find a salon with a bridal suite. Catering at the farm is provided exclusively by Russell Morin Fine Catering. They will make sure that you have an unparalleled event.

Hillary and Ron | Whispering Pines Wedding

Happy first day of May! To celebrate, we’re looking back to Hillary and Ron’s Whispering Pines Wedding. Matt and Emily taking care of photography, Brian for cinematography, and Caleb joining them at the reception with the Bluecube!

Hillary and her favorite ladies spent the morning getting pampered! After placing the gorgeous flower crown on Hillary’s head, the girls all got into their stunning floral dresses! We just love this bright, floral motif. Hillary’s gorgeous flower crown, and all the other pretty florals came from The Water’s Edge Flowers. Now that the ladies were dressed and ready to go, it was time for to surprise the groom with a first look! As Ron waited patiently on the dock, he finally turned around to see his glowing bride! Once we snapped a few pictures and the two love birds were able to exchange excited giggles and a few kisses, we were ready for the ceremony at Whispering Pines!

With the last of Ron and Hillary’s guests finding their seats, the bridal party took their places. With friends and family as witnesses, Ron and Hillary exchanged intimate vows. Next came the kiss, making them officially husband and wife! Now it was time to party at the reception! With delicious food, awesome music, and the Bluecube to capture all of the fun and embarrassing moments, it was the perfect celebration for the newly weds! Luke Renchan Entertainment provided the music for a fantastic reception. We are so grateful that we were able to be a part of their special day! Congrats to a sweet bride and groom!

Jackie and Gunter | Fort Adams Wedding

Today, we’re going to look back at Jackie and Gunter’s Fort Adams Wedding! Emily and Kearsten photographed this fun couple, while Caleb joined the party with the Bluecube!

Jackie spent the morning surrounded by her favorite girlfriends with hair and makeup care from the awesome Lisa DiNapoli. With each lock of hair curled perfectly, the ladies were ready to get into their wedding attire. Jackie wore a gorgeous Provnovias gown from New York Lace while the bridesmaids wore beautiful dresses from Weddington Way! Now that the girls looked absolutely flawless from head to toe, it was time to surprise her man Gunter with a first look! With one tap on the shoulder and a quick spin around, Gunter was filled with complete bliss as he looked at his radiant bride! The Fort made the perfect backdrop for that sweet moment. After a few more pictures, and an exchange of nervous giggles and kisses, it was time to get this show on the road and jet off to the ceremony!

With the last of the guests filling into the ceremony at Fort Adams, the bridal party took their places and waited for it all to begin! Jackie and Gunter’s closest friends and family stood as the glowing bride walked down the aisle. Once everyone was seated, Greg Wheaton started off the ceremony leading Jackie and Gunter through their precious vows. After making everything official with a kiss, our happy couple were now newly weds and ready to celebrate!

The bride’s family crafted beautiful floral arrangements to bring some fabulous color to the lovely tented reception. With a delicious meal from B&M Catering and scrumptious desserts from The French Connection everyone was full and ready to party! After capturing some hilarious moments at the Bluecube, everyone hit the dance floor with Al Martinez!

Staying on Track With Your Wedding Planning Timeline

Wedding planning can be a pretty daunting task. There’s so much to do and so much conflicting information out there about the best way to get everything done. How do you stay on track with your wedding planning timeline? We’ve got a few tips to share.

Enjoy the Moment

If you’re newly engaged, take some time to just enjoy the new level in your relationship. It’s a special time, so don’t jump into the planning too fast. The most important take-away from the wedding planning process isn’t the wedding, it’s your marriage! Take some time to invest in that and enjoy some time with each other.

Make A List

Figure out what is most important to the two of you. Do you want to have space for conversations with your guests or do you prefer to host the dance party of the century? Make a list of the things that are most important to you before booking a date or any vendors. This can be an incredibly helpful tool in keeping you focused on what’s truly important throughout the process.

Breakdown the Tasks

Now that you know what your goals are, it’s helpful to breakdown the tasks by month. Having small projects to work on helps to keep the process fun rather than stressful. Once you have the tasks broken down, share it with your bridesmaid or someone else who is supporting you. Having others assist can take the pressure off and can help give you a little push if you do start to fall behind. Our friends over at Weddingwire have a great infographic to help you break down the best timing to book your vendors. After you’ve accomplished your tasks for the month, take some time to celebrate! You’re likely working a full time job and planning an amazing wedding at the same time. That is no joke. Treat yo’ self!

Ali and Eric | The Dorrance Wedding

The Blueflash team is gearing up for the full swing of wedding season. We’re thrilled to be a part of so many amazing weddings, so we’ll be reminiscing about some of the awesome weddings we were able to be apart of in 2016. You are absolutely going to love today’s wedding. It was featured in the 2017 Edition of Southern New England Weddings! Let’s check out Ali and Eric’s Dorrance Wedding! Emily and Brian photographed this gorgeous affair.

Ali started her morning off with Calma Salon who took care of every hair and makeup need! Our stunning bride and her bridesmaids finished off their wedding look by getting into their dresses! Ali wore a Stella York wedding gown from Ve’Lace Bridal, and she looked absolutely gorgeous! Now that the bridal party was officially dressed to the nines, it was time to set off for the ceremony at Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Church. The men stood in their proper places at the front of the church while the ladies got in order behind the doors. As Ali walked down the aisle to Eric, everyone watched with utter joy. Reverend Joseph Escobar officiated the wedding vows. Once the couple was officially wed, it was time to celebrate!

Now man and wife, Ali and Eric stopped to take a few pictures at Propect Terrace Park. The Providence skyline put on it’s best show for this wedding party. It was a truly beautiful day. While we took pictures, the guests headed over to The Dorrance. The already lovely reception space was tremendously transformed by the master creations of Toni Chandler Flowers & Events! Not only did they provide a gorgeous location for the reception but they also provided a delicious feast for everyone to enjoy! After everything sweet and savory was devoured, everyone was ready to jump on the dance floor with The Sweet Beats!

Thanks Ali and Eric for letting us tag along for the day!
