It’s nice to shoot in a different spot than Newport from time to time. Nothing against Newport, it’s just so nice that it’s extremely popular for engagement sessions. Kristen and Anthony agreed to meet up in Jamestown on the water. There were docks, a view of the Newport Bridge (Senator Pell Bridge if you want to be technical about it), a little beach area, and a small town right behind it all.
We met up in the morning to get a good angle of light from the sun and started out in the water and beach area before the sun got too high. Once we made the most of that we hit the docks and took some shots there. We saved the little town area for last since the sun position wasn’t as critical because we had some buildings around us to cast some shade.
We found a bunch of good spots on the street that were public. Toward the end of the session we walked by a restaurant that had an open dining area on the side of the building. I looked at Kristen and Anthony and looked back at the restaurant. “Do you want to run in there and take some shots?” I asked them. “Let’s do it” they responded. My kind of couple. I did a little quick recon work to see if there was anyone in the restaurant (they were closed, after all). I heard the clinking of glasses and dishes in the kitchen area. They must have been prepping for lunch opening. I reported back and we decided to see how much we could get done before we got discovered and kicked out.
We ended up getting a bunch of cool shots. When we were satisfied we took off. Success. It really isn’t a shoot unless you do a little trespassing. Looking forward to hanging out with these guys some more in June for their wedding!
