Venue Spotlight | Harbor Lights

The Venue Spotlight Series

Over the past few years we’ve photographed a lot of wedding venues. Like, a lot of venues. We thought that we’d bring something a little different to the blog to highlight some of these wonderful spaces. In the coming months, we’ll feature some helpful information and beautiful photos and videos of wedding venues around Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut that you are going to absolutely love. So, without further ado, here’s the next edition of our venue spotlight series: Harbor Lights!

Harbor Lights

Central location, pristine, manicured grounds, seaside ceremony arbor: Harbor Lights has got it all! To get all they offer, you might assume that your only choice is a Newport venue, but not so! This is definitely a venue to add to your visit list. The Grand Ballroom was recently renovated – it’s sleek, modern, and perfect. If you’d prefer to take advantage of the Bay view, they have some fantastic options for a tented event. One of our favorite parts about the property is the wide range of options for pictures. You can take your photos by the water, the marina, the trees, and there’s even a cute red barn to use a photo backdrop. There’s so much loveliness to choose from.

Want more than just a day of fun? They have options for an entire wedding weekend: golf, an infinity pool with a tiki bar, great dining options, they can even help arrange a harbor cruise. To help with all the options, Harbor Lights has an incredibly easy-to-work-with staff that will flawlessly execute your wedding. Trust us, you are in good hands at Harbor Lights.

OceanCliff

OceanCliff is the quintessential Newport wedding venue. Why? It’s that gorgeous ocean view, of course! The sweeping views of Narragansett bay and the Newport Bridge bring people from all around New England to visit and get married here. There’s just so much to love – the wedding arbor that overlooks the bay, the artfully manicured grounds, the historic buildings. We could go on for paragraphs about OceanCliff weddings. But, the best thing by far, though, is the staff. From the amazing, knowledgable sales managers to the banquet captains and servers, we’ve never had anything but great experiences at OceanCliff.

OceanCliff has great options for ceremonies on site – both indoor and outdoor. If you prefer a church ceremony, though, Newport has a number of beautiful, historic church within close driving distance. The area surrounding OceanCliff is awesome too. The property is close to the Fort Adams, Brenton Point, and the Castle Hill Lighthouse. On top of all that, The Newport Experience was some really cool options to add to your wedding experience. Want to go for a sunset sail on your wedding day? They have the Schooner Aurora.

We could go on, but we’ll let the photos and videos speak for themselves. Be sure to check out the aerial video and wedding highlights below! Want to see even more photos from real weddings? Check out a few of our OceanCliff weddings here:

Maureen and Matt | Nantucket Engagement Session

Happy Wedding Wednesday! Today, we’re not featuring a wedding, but we do have an amazing engagement session for you… Maureen and Matt’s Nantucket Engagement session!

This was a really awesome engagement shoot. The weather was perfect, the couple was super fun to hang out with, and we got to bring some toys with us to the beach! We took our drone with us for this particular session! Okay, so maybe its not technically a toy but when we get to take it out and use it, theres a sense of opening a new gift on Christmas day. Yes, the drone is that fun to shoot a photo session with! We used the regular hand held camera to start the day off, but then Maureen and Matt were just as excited to get the drone off the ground as we were! With the drone reaching heights of over a thousand feet in the air, theres a whole new array of shots we can get. There’s just so many different perspectives that we have available with this technology!

Thanks Maureen and Matt for hanging out with us as we channeled our inner 12 year old for this shoot! Best of luck! Check out the highlights from their engagement session below!

Drone License Acquired | RI Aerial Photography

This one’s short and sweet – we finally (7 months after applying) got our Section 333 Exemption from the FAA. That’s their strange label for essentially a drone pilot’s license. This is exciting stuff. Technically you’re not allowed to fly a drone for commercial purposes without this exemption/license. It’s really difficult to get and they don’t hand them out liberally, so we’re pumped that we got ours.

Want some aerial shots from your wedding? We can do both photos and videos from the sky. A few aerial clips adds a really nice touch to your highlight film. Talk to us about it if you’re interested! That’s all for now…
