Sometimes our camera takes us into places that our regular life wouldn’t normally have access to; behind the scenes moments and events that the public isn’t aware of. Last week was one of those. I had the honor of photographing the Warren Volunteer Fire Department’s 170th annual meeting.
The meeting took place in the original firehouse that was built 170 years prior. The main agenda of the night was to swear in the new captain. The current one had served for thirty three years. Allow me to remind you that this is a *volunteer* fire department. These men give their own time and risk their lives for no pay. It was humbling to watch everybody in the room and think that they were all their of their own accord.
It was an honor to photograph and document the events that took place that night. If your town, like Warren, has a volunteer fire department, be sure to thank them for what they do. These guys serve, they do it quietly, and they do it well. Thanks to them and everyone else out there that does the same.
