You may recognize Jess from, well, here. She’s one of our very own lead photographers. Her and her boyfriend Chad had recently gotten engaged. It was a total surprise for Jess. Chad is from Michigan, where Jess is from, so Chad flew into RI and crashed at our place for the night. The next day he went to Block Island and I sent Jess there separately for an engagement shoot with fake clients. When she showed up to meet the clients, there was Chad waiting for her at the bluffs with the ring.

Soon after that Chad headed back to Michigan to get back to his job and life there. When he came back to RI to visit we got together to do an engagement session of the two of them. We went to East Greenwich because Jess loves the area and we walked the streets and shot whatever looked good.

I have to admit – it’s intimidating to shoot another photographer. It was fun though and I was glad I had the chance to do it. The bittersweet part to this whole engagement thing is that Jess is leaving us in the fall to go back to Michigan, get married, and continue their life together there. I’m still working on convincing her to stay in RI but I’m pretty sure I’m losing that battle.
