Photographing a wedding of dear friends is one of the highest honors. To know that a friend of yours trusts you enough to handle their wedding is a very unique feeling. I (Matt) have known Rachel for more years than I can count. I’ve known not only her, but her whole family for all that time as well.
On top of that, we run in the same circles so I knew and was friends with a ton of the guests. My wife was among them which is always a nice change of pace.
The wedding was in their sprawling farm-like backyard in Smithfield, Rhode Island under a tent. Rachel’s dad is super handy so he constructed a lot of the things used in and for the wedding. The weather was great and it was a bright light during the COVID era when gathering with people wasn’t really happening. To be with everybody outdoors and celebrate something positive was awesome.
