Better late than never, right? In our effort to catch up on the blog, some of these things are just a bit dated. This is one that kind of shows its age.
RI Monthly ran their annual Best Of event at the Providence Performing Arts Center when the weather was a bit warmer than it is right now. The event was huge and it was sold out. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Performing Arts Center more busy.
Dan, Emily, and I covered the event for both photo and video. You can see the recap video below as well as a promo piece we did with RI Monthly and Svedka Vodka. Stars of the film were Will and Michaela from the Rhode Show and Heather Gersten from Lite105. They played that video to the audience as a way to introduce the contestants for the mixed drink contest.
The night started off with some general mingling around with food trucks, the Cranston West marching band, and Paws (the Pawsox mascot). From there people moved into the auditorium and up on stage to sample the drinks that were entered into the contest. Everyone was seated after that and our video was shown. Awards were then given out and the winner of the contest announced.
Once that was over it was a party, with a bunch of vendors out in the lobby area with food and drinks (Dave’s Coffee killed it with their drinkable frozen coffee milk concoction). People also flooded through an area we had set up so they could take a photo with their award. That was insane.
There were a bunch of local VIPs in attendance. Mayors, governors, etc… It was a big ordeal and pretty cool to be a part of. Looking forward to this year’s event again.
