First off, happy Mother’s Day!
For anybody who’s been following us even for a little while, you are probably familiar with Steph from Stephanie Pavone Mills Photography. She is a fellow photographer and good friend of mine (and Tara’s). She asked if I’d be willing to do some photos of her and her son Emmett for a little Mother’s Day session. Of course I said I would and we lazily brainstormed about where we’d do the pictures. We’re both from Cranston, so naturally we didn’t want to go anywhere outside of the city boundaries.
Steph ended up securing the William Hall Library, both inside and out. She is, in another life, a librarian and she used to work at that particular library in the past so she was able to pull a few strings.
We met up there and I had Tara, Ezra, and Finn in tow since Ez and Emmett are little buddies. I also wanted to take a few photos of Tara and the two little dudes for our own little Mother’s Day shoot after I realized that Steph had a good idea.
We started inside the library and grabbed a few shots with some walls of books. After that we headed outside and used some of the locations around the library. One thing that got reinforced in my head is that toddlers do not respond quite like adults do when getting photos taken. Also, sessions deteriorate at an exponential rate, and it’s completely dependent on the youngest person in attendance.
It was a good time. Ezra found a big stick and almost took Emmett’s head off. Emmett almost succeeded in smashing Steph’s iPhone on the cement steps. You know, typical kid stuff. Steph graciously snapped a few photos of us as family while we were there so that was a cool bonus!
Here’s some photos from the session and if you haven’t checked out Steph’s stuff before, then be sure to head over to http://www.spmillsphotography.com right this second!
