I met Susan and Ben down at Brenton Point for their engagement session not too long ago. Ben and I go pretty far back, most of our history entangled in playing in bands together. He’s a really good guy and when he and Susan got engaged I was glad to get the tap to be a part of their wedding day. Susan is from out of state so I only met her for the first time at the shoot. She belongs with Ben – no doubt about that.
After the pleasantries and excessive hugging, we hugged some more and then headed off toward the water to take the first shots. It was outrageously windy but Susan was cool about it and we pressed on. We shot along the beach, a wall, and anything else we could find. Eventually we found ourselves trespassing into some area with an abandoned building and we were throwing camera gear over the fence to each other before hopping it ourselves.
We set up flashes and umbrellas in the place and made the most of the graffiti walls and other various broken items. We also caught an awesome sunset that we also front lit with the strobes and I think those came out really cool. We finished the session off by the water and captured some of the crazy fire sky action for the last few shots.
Their wedding is in the next couple weeks and we’ll be photographing and filming it for them. Stay tuned for their photos and video when they’re all finished up! For now, some engagement highlights…
