Thanks for sticking with us through the whole How To Choose Your Rhode Island Wedding Photographer series. This last post has been lingering as I’ve procrastinated with taking the photos of the new studio space. Without further ado, the closing installment of the series…
The wedding is over. You get back from your honeymoon. The dust starts to settle. You sift through all your gifts. Real life starts. But wait! There’s one more wedding related event to be had before facing reality! The post-wedding viewing party.
Another Party?
Party might not be the best word for it. Let me explain. Something we like to do here at Blueflash is invite the bride and groom back to our studio space for the first unveiling of their finished wedding photos. We encourage them to bring their mom and dad or a couple friends or other family members. It’s a night where you get to relive your wedding day once more with some people you love.
What Happens?
You relax on the couch, we turn on some music, and we run a slideshow of your wedding from start to finish. It’s simple. It’s also really awesome for you and for us. It’s exciting for you to see your photos for the first time and it’s awesome for us to get to witness your reaction as you see the artwork we had the honor of creating for you.
Where Did This Come From?
Something that always bothered me about wedding photography was how anti-climactic it always ended up being. You spend all this time planning your wedding, we meet before the wedding, have an engagement session, spend one of the most important days of your lives with you, then head home and spend hours upon hours sorting and editing your photos, and then mail you a jump drive with your files. Then it’s pretty much over. Yes, we email back and forth and work through the album design and get that mailed to you as well, but there was never any closure. I felt like the perfect way to achieve that would be to have this viewing night that everyone could enjoy.
Plus, it’s an excuse to see our brides and grooms again. By the time we’ve made it this far with them we have a pretty good relationship, especially because we get to work with the coolest brides and grooms in New England.
This is a largely unadvertised perk that we offer to all our brides and grooms. I think it’s pretty unique and I’m proud that we are able to offer it. Check out our new(ish) space!
