Seaside Glam at Carley and Brian’s OceanCliff Newport Wedding
Buckle up! You are in for a treat… Carley and Brian are hitting the blog today in their incredible OceanCliff Newport Wedding. Every inch of this wedding day is beyond perfect, we were so thrilled to be invited along to capture the beauty of their day.
Planned to Perfection by Hidden Host Events, no detail was left untouched. But first a few words from the bride…
How they met
Brian and Carley met at a hometown bar on Spring Break when Carley was 19 and Brian was 23. They were raised in the same town but never knew each other (because of their four year age difference) until the day they met on March 10, 2012. Carley and Brian have been together ever since that day, for Brian it was love at first sight. Brian’s best friend Anthony was dating Carley’s best friend, Brianna, so the couple gives them credit for making the initial connection.
How he asked
Brian proposed on a weekend trip to Newport. He had it all planned to propose on the balcony of the Spiced Pear during sunset, but the weather was miserable the entire weekend. Not to be deterred, Saturday morning the couple went to brunch at Castle Hill Inn. The weather was still not great, but it wasn’t raining at the time so Brian brought the ring with him just in case a good opportunity arose. Without knowing anything about Castle Hill or the iconic Lighthouse, Brian asked the waiter at brunch if there were any good sites for photos nearby, and the waiter informed us about the lighthouse. Walking over and Brian realized it was the perfect setting to propose. They walked out to the ledge of the lighthouse and Brian setup the camera with a timer to take a photo, after the first one Brian said, “Let’s do one more” and went back and set the camera to video. When the timer went off, Brian dropped to one knee and proposed right there on the ledge of the lighthouse and caught Carley totally off guard. Brian totally winged it, but it could not have been any better!
Favorite part of Wedding Planning
Finding and choosing OceanCliff to be our Venue. OceanCliff was the first venue we saw and we fell in love with it. After seeing three other venues we knew OceanCliff was the one. We didn’t even look at other venues in NY, NJ or CT where we originally were intending on getting married. We loved bringing our family and friends up to see OceanCliff for their first times during the planning process.
