Providence Public Library Wedding
I knew I liked Esther and Paul when at their engagement session, they asked to take a few photographs with their Jelly Cat bunnies! If you don’t know what Jelly Cats are, they are the most adorable stuffed animals on earth. The bunnies even made an appearance at the wedding! This set the tone for me because while on one hand I knew I was working with two highly educated professionals, I also could see that they possessed a love overflowing with childlike sweetness. Esther and Paul share a heart melting silliness and affection for each other. It felt like I was photographing the giddiest secret on the playground. They made me want to pass out candy hearts and cards.
But enough about the bunnies! The pair were married at the Providence Public Library. Their first look and portraits on the grand staircase were visual poetry. The building itself with its royal elegance fit the look of the gorgeous couple and made for a really fun photo session. They decorated their tables and dance floor with the most intricate paper flowers and antique medical books- a perfect combination. Being there with them to photograph the love, friendship and celebration was an absolute joy!

The Proposal!
Paul tricked Esther into thinking that he didn’t have the ring in time for their January vacation to Cancun. On the second night of the vacation, as Esther was getting ready for dinner, she saw Paul on one knee on the balcony. When she asked what he was doing, he said he was just getting ready for us to do our celebratory pre-dinner scotch. She was unsuspecting. Then Paul surprised Esther by asking her to marry him on the balcony overlooking the ocean. He struggled to open the box as he popped the question, so Esther had to open the box herself, after which she took the ring and tried to put it on the wrong ring finger! She gave the ring back to Paul to place the ring on the correct finger and they were engaged!
