We had some grand plans for this morning engagement session. We were going to wake up at 5AM and get out to the Scituate Reservoir to catch the perfect sunrise. Shannon and Mike were awesome for being game to do this, and I was psyched as I went to bed the night before.
Unfortunately, I woke to the sound of pouring rain a little before 5. I shot a text to Shannon and Mike to see what they wanted to do (don’t worry, we don’t text all our clients before 5AM), and we decided to hold off an hour and try to get the shoot in anyway. The rain was supposed to move out and we weren’t going to be seeing any sun rise with the rainstorm anyway. When we did meet up, the rain had tapered off for the most part and we were left with super grey skies and some misty air. Oh well, we made it happen anyway.
We shot on the reservoir for a little while and when we finished there, we got in the cars and headed up into the back roads of Scituate. I saw a cool spot in the forest as we were driving and stopped. I asked Shannon and Mike if they were cool with taking a little adventure into the woods. They were totally cool so we went right in and found some sweet spots to shoot. I really wanted a shot with the “sun” in it, so I set up a flash on a stand behind a tree and created the sun. It was just what I wanted. Who needs the real sun, anyway?
After the woods we found a giant field and played in that for awhile before calling it quits. I am pumped to shoot their wedding in July. This couple is so cool and laid-back, and I know their wedding is going to be a ton of fun. Take a look at the photos and stay tuned for their wedding later in the year!
